Real Wedding: A Cambridge Love Story – When two students fell in love...

There were so many personal and sentimental aspects throughout Tom & Peter’s Wedding Day and I loved hearing all about how they met, how their relationship has grown from strength to strength, plus all of the memorable occasions they spent together. And here’s just a snippet of their incredible day…

Authors Bio: Vivienne May Weddings was founded and created by Kerrie May. Her wealth of experience, industry knowledge and unrivalled passion for bringing her clients vision to life is what drives her to plan impeccably designed, style-led and perfectly co-ordinated weddings, with romance at it’s heart.

Tom & Peter both met at Christs College Cambridge when they were both students studying Natural Science. They met in 2004 whilst attending a dinner in the Old Combination Room, overlooking the Main Hall (where they then celebrated with their closest friends and family with a delicious 5 course Wedding Breakfast almost 20 years later!)

They chose to have their Wedding Ceremony next to the famous Milton Mulberry Tree in Christs College’s Fellow’s Gardens and this became a dramatic backdrop for their vows. The tree unfortunately has to be supported by wooden beams but the couple felt like this was a perfect symbol of how their family and friends have supported them throughout the years – making it the perfect place for their Ceremony.

Peter has a huge love of music and this was a key factor on the Wedding Day. They had a String Quintet for their Wedding Ceremony & Drinks Reception, then for their meal they had an incredible Trumpet Fanfare followed by the College Choir singing Grace.

One of the dinners they attended whilst at Christs College Cambridge had a Silhouette Artist roving, at which, they of course had to have their silhouette’s cut. This then became a beautiful and elegant detail in the Stationery and beyond, including their cake topper (an acrylic cut out of the exact silhouette they first had together!)

After the Wedding Breakfast, they lead their guests through the lively streets of Cambridge to the Town & Gown Theatre. The private theatre was transformed with an incredible band, led dancefloor and the beautiful ceremony backdrop was re-purposed as a striking photo backdrop for guests to enjoy! Plus, they couldn’t go without including their love of cheese on the day! The Cambridge Cheese Company provided an incredible selection of cheese, bread, crackers and chutney which made the perfect evening snack for all of the guests to enjoy!
