There is something wonderfully romantic about a summer wedding in London. Long, light-filled days, the grandeur of the city and a historic venue filled with flowers, music and candlelight create the perfect setting for a truly unforgettable celebration.

For J&J, their summer wedding at The Kimpton Fitzroy London was exactly that: an elegant, luxurious celebration for more than 100 guests, bringing together family and friends from across the world for a day filled with beautiful design, exceptional entertainment and unforgettable moments.

As a luxury London wedding planner, I loved creating a wedding that felt grand and glamorous while remaining personal and full of thoughtful details. The day was captured by Fire & Ice who captured beautiful moments and film throughout the day.

A grand London wedding ceremony

The ballroom at The Kimpton Fitzroy London was transformed for J&J's ceremony into a romantic floral setting, designed to make an impact from the moment guests entered.

A crisp white aisle ran through the centre of the ballroom, lined with beautiful floral meadow arrangements reminiscent of an English summer garden. At the end of the aisle stood two extravagant floral columns, creating a spectacular focal point for the ceremony and framing the couple as they exchanged their vows.

The floral design by Augusta Florals was intentionally soft and sophisticated, with a palette of cream, white and pale pink flowers complemented by abundant foliage. The result was romantic without feeling overly traditional – an elegant floral installation that worked beautifully within the grandeur of the Fitzroy's historic ballroom.

The Giardino String quartet provided the soundtrack to the ceremony before continuing through the drinks reception, adding another layer of timeless elegance to the afternoon.

Transformation from ceremony to wedding breakfast

One of the most exciting parts of planning a wedding at a venue such as The Kimpton Fitzroy London is seeing how dramatically a space can evolve throughout the day.

Following the ceremony, the ballroom was completely transformed for the wedding breakfast.

The layout centred around a generous dancefloor, with the stage for the evening's band positioned at one end of the room. Opposite it, we created a second stage-style area featuring a beautiful sofa and the floral columns from the ceremony.

Rather than simply removing elements after the ceremony, we repurposed them within the reception design, allowing the flowers to have a second moment and ensuring the ballroom continued to feel cohesive from day into evening.

This is one of the details I particularly love when planning luxury weddings: every element should feel considered, intentional and part of the wider story of the day.

Elegant summer table styling

The tables were designed to feel abundant and luxurious while still allowing guests to enjoy the sense of intimacy that comes from a beautifully considered wedding breakfast.

A mixture of blossom trees provided by The Blossom Company, and floral arrangements by Augusta Florals, in glass vases created variation across the room, bringing height and movement to the tables while echoing the soft summer floral palette from the ceremony.

Glass gold charger plates provided by Options Great Hire added a subtle touch of glamour, beautifully complementing the ballroom's existing architecture and creating a sophisticated foundation for the place settings.

Every guest had a handwritten place card and beautifully designed menus by Dimitria Jordan Stationery, adding those personal details that make a large wedding feel wonderfully considered.

For a wedding with more than 100 guests – including loved ones travelling internationally – these small details become even more meaningful. They make every guest feel personally welcomed and part of the celebration.

A show-stopping evening celebration

When planning a luxury London wedding, production and entertainment is an important part of creating the atmosphere, and J&J wanted their evening celebration to be every bit as spectacular as the setting. Their bespoke production provided by The London Function Band included 2 symmetrical white stages and a central white LED dancefloor.

Their band was the West End Showband, bringing incredible energy to the dancefloor and ensuring the party continued well into the evening. But before the dancing began, J&J made their grand entrance in unforgettable fashion – accompanied by drummers and dancers.

It was the perfect transition from elegant wedding breakfast to a spectacular party and one of those moments that guests will remember long after the wedding day itself.

A beautifully personal wedding cake

The wedding cake was a four-tiered buttercream design by Claire Lawrence Cake Design, finished with real flowers to complement the wider floral styling.

The soft, romantic finish felt perfectly at home within the wedding's elegant summer aesthetic, while the fresh flowers tied the cake seamlessly into the rest of the ballroom design.

And because no celebration is complete without something sweet for guests to enjoy, beautiful macarons were also provided as favours – a lovely little gift for guests to take home and enjoy after the celebrations.

Planning a luxury wedding at The Kimpton Fitzroy London

The Kimpton Fitzroy London is a particularly wonderful setting for couples looking to create a luxury London wedding with a real sense of occasion.

Its architecture provides an incredible backdrop, but the ballroom also offers the flexibility to transform throughout the day – from a grand ceremony, to an elegant wedding breakfast, and finally into a spectacular party.

For international couples and families travelling to London, the experience becomes even more important. From supplier management and guest logistics to the smallest design details, having an experienced London wedding planner overseeing the day means you can be fully present with the people you love, knowing every detail is being taken care of behind the scenes.

A celebration to remember

J&J's wedding was the perfect example of what we love about luxury wedding planning: beautiful design, exceptional entertainment and thoughtful details brought together to create an experience that feels completely personal to the couple.

From the floral-lined white aisle and romantic ceremony flowers to the dramatic ballroom transformation, West End entertainment, grand entrance and beautiful summer styling, every part of the day was designed to feel effortless, elegant and unforgettable.

And ultimately, that is what luxury wedding planning should be about. Not simply creating a beautiful wedding, but creating a celebration where every guest feels welcomed, every detail has purpose and the couple can simply enjoy being together.
