Real Wedding: When New York Meets London...

S & T had got engaged on New Years Eve 2021 in New York and started planning instantly! They approached me at the start of January with just a venue and less than 5 months later, this beautiful, elegant London wedding was created and brought to life by an incredible team!

Authors Bio: Vivienne May Weddings was founded and created by Kerrie May. With over 8 years of experience in the luxury wedding & event industry, Kerrie has worked at some of the UK’s most iconic venues alongside a selection of renowned industry professionals and worked with a selection of high-net worth couples.

Kerrie is a UK Wedding Planner and has a distinctive reputation amongst her fellow luxury wedding professionals. Her wealth of experience, industry knowledge and unrivalled passion for bringing her clients vision to life is what drives her to plan impeccably designed, style-led and perfectly co-ordinated weddings, with romance at it’s heart.

During our first meeting we instantly knew we would be a great team! S & T were based in New York and needed a Planner who could transform their ideas into reality from over 3,400 miles away and I was overjoyed that they placed their trust in me to create such a special day for them both and their families.

S & T were looking for a very natural, elegant wedding with crisp white tones and silver accents, surrounded by pops of hunter green foliage. So I began the search to find the perfect suppliers to help bring their vision to life!

The Venue

Located amongst some of London’s biggest landmarks, The Ned is a former Midland Bank headquarters, designed by Sir Edwin 'Ned' Lutyens in 1924. The architecture is breath-taking, from the bold emerald pillars in the lobby, to the oak wood panelled areas and grand hallways, there was a picture-perfect backdrop at every turn!

The Ceremony

The beautiful, bespoke ceremony was conducted by Tia Scully. Starting off with a Ring Warming (an old Irish tradition where the couples wedding rings are passed around for each of the guests to briefly hold and silently warm them with their blessings and good wishes for the couple) and ending with a few guests in fits of laughter, it was a truly memorable ceremony that S & T will cherish forever.

The Photographer

I was thrilled when the couple chose Camilla J Hards Photography to capture their day! Not only is her photography style incredibly beautiful, but she is one of the calmest photographers I have ever met (you are definitely in expert hands with Camilla!) Camilla and Whitney captured so many stunning photographs throughout the day, I mean just look at these photographs! The couple loved how at ease they made them feel and were overjoyed to receive the sneak peeks a few days after the wedding day!

The Flowers

Augusta at Augusta Florals was one of the first florists I came across and the passion she has for floristry shines through from the moment you meet her! After sending her moodboards of styles and designs that the couple loved, she created an elegant floral display for the fireplace and dotted lots of candles down the aisle to ooze romance. Her decadent floral centrepieces were filled with bold white hydrangeas and delicate white roses, surrounded by hunter green foliage that made the beautiful white flowers pop! The Bridal Bouquet included white peonies, hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus' and stocks, the perfect combination for an all-white, elegant bouquet!

The Outfits

The Bride wore a stunning Amsale Nouvelle Wren Gown; an Ivory, A-line ballgown with a delicate sheer back and embroidered flowers (it was one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen!) The Bride also complimented her gown with a pair of Magosisters ivory heels and classic diamond earrings, whilst the Groom wore a classic, navy blue Charles Tyrwhitt suit, complete with pale pink tie and formal shoes.

The Hair & Makeup

Jade from A Finishing Touch UK created a beautiful natural, glow for the Bride’s makeup whilst her hair was swept back in a loose bun – complimenting her formal dress perfectly.

The Drinks Reception

Onto the drinks reception! The couple had managed to fly over for their menu tasting prior to the big day and chose a delicious selection for their guests to indulge in! Their canapes included; Beef Tataki Crispy Wontons, Asparagus Burrata with Balsamic Pearls placed on a Cracker, Roast chicken with avocado on arepas, and Mushroom & ginger steamed gyoza!

They also created a bespoke cocktail for their guests to enjoy alongside Champagne for all guests to enjoy on The Terrace overlooking key London landmarks (including The Shard and St. Paul's Cathedral).

The Favours

Finding the perfect favours were important to S & T as they wanted to say a huge thank you to guests who had travelled from America for their big day. I was given the brief: edible or alcohol (best brief for favours!) One of the options I came across were a selection of London themed biscuits and The Biscuiteers were the number one choice for bespoke favours for the couple.

They chose a combination of London themed biscuits and their Wedding selection, both of which allowed the biscuits to be personalised with their names and wedding date on. They were a definite hit with all of the guests!

The Evening Reception

The couple wanted their Evening Reception to be a real celebration! Dancing their first dance to Elton John’s Your Song, the couple then welcomed their guests onto the dancefloor to join them as their band; Supercharger, kicked off the evening!
